The 2010 ICC World Twenty20 is an international Twenty20 cricket tournament scheduled from 30 April to 16 May 2010 in the West Indies. The ICC World Twenty20 this year will be conducted 10 months following the previous one.

While the tournament has been run every two years since 2007, the planned ICC Champions Trophy one-day international tournament to be conducted in the West Indies in 2010 has been changed into a Twenty20 format due to the postponement of the 2008 Champions Trophy tournament in Pakistan owing to security concerns. Another reason was because the international cricketing tournament calendar needed to be adjusted.

Like before, 12 teams will be participating in the tournament: the Test-playing countries in addition to two qualifiers. Four grounds have been selected to hold the matches: St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, Guyana, and Barbados. The tournament is to be held alongside the women’s tournament, with the women’s semi-finals and final to precede the semi-finals and final event in the men’s tournament. England’s team now appears to posses more depth than the group that lost during last year’s World Twenty20 at the second group stage.
